A hospital is defined as "an institution providing medical and surgical treatment and nursing care for sick or injured people."
Here's one person's story...
At 11:00 PM one night in 2009 I was bleeding from my throat. My blood pressure was 200-something. I was attended by a nurse who phoned the doctor. The doctor did not come to the Emergency Ward to treat me but I received a Aspirin and was sent home.
At 8:00 AM the next morning I was in Penticton Hospital and underwent an operation on my throat.
