IHA (Interior Health Authority) has an annual budget of $1.8-billion dollars. Over $1.5-million of it is used to pay the top level members of IHA's board.
Here's the breakdown. Note: These figures DO NOT include bonuses and expense accounts.
$346,014 - Dr. Robert Halpenny, IHA President & CEO
$253,105 - Susan Brown, VP Tertiary Services
$232,066 - Andrew Neuner, VP Community Integration
$227,766 - Allan Sinclair, VP Acute Services
$214,460 - Donna Lommer, VP Residential Services & CFO
$163,105 - Martin McMahon, VP Planning/Strategic Services
$134,832 - Cathy Renkas, VP Communications/Public Affairs
Hey, maybe each and every one of these people are worth every penny they make. The point I'm trying to make here is, if these people are making this kind of money (last year, I think I made just under $20,000 myself, so you can't say I'm hiding anything), they should be able to come up with the answers.
If you run a business and pay your staff well, you expect results. If someone starts to, you know, not meet the job requirements, you try to bring them back on track. If that doesn't work, you make changes.
As IHA is a publicly-funding (that's tax dollars out of your and my pockets) health care service provider, maybe it's time for the Ministry of Health to conduct a review of the services being provided.
Or maybe we should all just wait until the provincial election rolls around and turf 'em all.
Just a thought.
