This letter was received today (August 9, 2012) by a Princeton resident over 3-months after she wrote to the Minister of Health.
Laila Bird
Dear Ms. Bird,
The Honourable Michael de Jong , QC , Minister of Health has asked me to respond to your letter dated May 26, 2012.
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. I apologize for the delayed response and for the way in which Dr. Halpenny's comments made you feel. It is obvious that you are very proud of your hospital and community, and contribute your time and energy towards both.
You may be aware that the Minister recently had the opportunity to visit Princeton to get an understanding of the situation first hand. He met with community leaders as well as Interior Health Authority staff. I believe he was impressed with the level of engagement and the creativity of the many individuals who are working to improve the health service situation. We are hopeful that these collaborative efforts will result in positive outcomes for Princeton .
Thank you for writing and for your service to the Princeton hospital and community.
Yours Truly,
Rod Frechette Executive Director
