Seniors Jump On Bandwagon

The British Columbia Old Age Pensioners Organization hosted its annual convention in Agassiz, BC June 11th to 13th.

Princeton Branch #185 requested consideration of an emergency resolution on the issue of Princeton General Hospital cutting back on Emergency Services. It was agreed that the area serviced by PGH is too large not to have 24/7 ER services and the resolution passed unanimously.

Here is the Resolution:

Emergency Resolution - Princeton-Similkameen Branch #185
Emergency Closures at Princeton General Hospital

Wheras the Interior Health Authority instituted scheduled closures of the emergency room at Princeton General Hospital from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM daily;

And further whereas these closures, which will last for at least one year, represent the latest in a long sequence of cutbacks that have a negative impact on our seniors and our community since the next closest hospital is in Penticton (a minimum of a 1 1/2 hour drive);

Therefore be it resolved that the British Columbia Old Age Pensioners Organization urges the Provincial Government and Interior Health to resolve this issue by ensuring that the emergency services are available 24 hours a day. UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED.
