The Save Our Hospital Coalition is fed up. They've had it pretty much up to here with IHA and have planned a second rally in downtown Princeton this afternoon (Monday, May 28) starting at 3:00 PM.
IHA officials are scheduled to be in Princeton and are holding a 'closed door' meeting with Princeton Town Council between 4:00 and 6:00 PM in the Princeton Library Conference Room, which in recent months has become the 'unofficial' Town Council Chambers. Expect the windows to be covered and no access while IHA, well, lays out their plan.
Many involved in the Save Our Hospital Coalition have referred to this visit by IHA as "just another stop on the IHA shut down tour." Ouch! But can you blame them? A petition circulated in and around Princeton and area has collected close to 3,000 signatures. All of them taxpayers who partially fund the public health care services provided by the governing body many have come to call 'Inferior Health' a moniker used also by some of IHA's employees. Ouch!
SOHC President Spencer Coyne tells why there's yet another rally: "Today's rally is taking place because we are tired of hollow talk from IHA we need solutions. The people who are running the IHA are paid a lot of money to find solutions to problems and the only solution to this two year old problem is to close our ER - that's unacceptable. No more talk."
There is a provincial election on the horizon in British Columbia and there have been hints that IHA will put off making any 'logical' decisions regarding rural health care services until after the election. Many view that as just another excuse to stall having to really do something about a system that just isn't working.
